SERRA SAN BRUNO

Serra San Bruno, well- known for the natural beauty that surrounds it, is situated in a lush valley rich of history and spirituality. The most important attraction is the beauty of its churches, but in particular the Carthusian monastery in Romanesque style, which is also one of the most important monastery in Italy . LACINA LAKE IN BROGNATURO

As soon as you get to Lacina Lake the landscape will take your breath away. Situated at about 1000 meters above the sea level, the Lacina Lake is an artificial lake fed by the river Alaco. In this artificial lake the only population of Menyanthes of this region lives.Concerning the flora there are more than 300 species, about 26% of them are rare. The main habitats are represented by beech forests. The lake plays an important role in the regional context, in fact it is one of the few wetlands in the southern mountain that shows richness in habitat and high concentration of rare species.
MONGIANA
(about 15 km from "Il Mondo della Preistoria")
This small village was founded in 1775 as a steel plant by Giovanni Battista Conty, director of the Royal ironworks, under the government of Charles de Bourbon. During the events related to the process of Italian unification, it was overshadowed by the Savoia government, and began a rapid decline which led it to cease its activities in 1881.

It is a large natural park where you can find ponds, picnic areas, several natural paths and trails. Of particular interest is the garden of medicinal herbs. The park is open every day free of charge.
